What is the role of women in NS?

This seems to be a popular question these days. An adherent of Natural Spirituality is called Que. There is no masculine or feminine of the word. The female of the Que is genuinely equal to the male. There is in fact no ordained role for any gender. Women can hold all the same positions in the church as men.

  • Unlike most religions, in Natural Spirituality (an agnostic path) becoming a woman doesn’t mean trying to be what a man wants. To live off the chairty of a man does not a woman make. Becoming a man doesn’t mean following scripture or an archaic code. Obedience does not make one virtuous. The purpose of life (male or female) for the Que is to evolve in the field of time. This means to learn, grow and mature in your own authentic self. —
  • Ancient cultures were agricultural societies and consequently view women as a kind of property (live stock), as they are the source of labor (children). This is an important economic consideration that is relfected in the ancient social structures of old religions. Agricultural societies are based on the family unit and the control of property. While we may not want to face that fact nevertheless it is true and spin it anyway you like the concept is at the foundation of our society. Railing against it doesn' change it. You can't sensor a belief system. You can't have a god without a satan. You cannot get modern social values out of an ancient religion. Consequently, being of a once way(ancient world), religions have a defined code of conduct especially for women. This ensures the maintainence of the social structure, which is the socialogical function of the religion. The religious code of how a woman "should" be is usually ordained by some divine order as set down in scripture or the revelation of such. It is important to point out here that WOMEN are the main advocates and enforcers of these roles not men. Religious women are the ones most vested in their roles. Interestingly enough these roles often differ vastly from actual scripture as the roles have more to do with maintaining the social structure rather than any true spiritual value. If you are building an agricultural society then maintaining social property rights is a necessary part of the sociological function of a religion.
  • Natural Spirituality is a modern religion and it serves as the foundation of an information society not an agricultural one. Naturally it departs from the concept of property rights in human relationships. Not everyone is ready for that change nor should they be. Evolution does not happen to an entire species just a few. Some human societies are evolving into an information society, where the individual and their liberties (such as the control of ideas) are the foundation of a social order. The sociological function of a modern religion in that society is not to maintain the agricultural social order but rather to prepare the individual for the journey of life. It is the individual contribution of invention and the creation of ideas (ideas like the internet) that is the most valuable economic resource of an information society. Both men and women are equally necessary to serve as a source of labor in that society. Natural Spirituality therefore doesn't have any of the old ideas about women and men being from mars and venus and other role playing games.
  • Natural Spirituality has no myth and no scripture consequently there is no “divine order” that decrees how a woman should be. There are no commandments in Natural Spirituality. Obedience is not a virtue. Following a set of rules doesn’t make you a good person. Obeying a code does not make you righteous, moral or pious. In fact in Natural Spirituality it is exactly the opposite. Virtue cannot abide in ignorance. Virtue comes from knowledge, experience, proper training and discipline. To be a good person you have to do more than behave a certain way, to be good you have to possess the "know how". Consequently there is nothing that says the objective is to find a husband or that your destiny is to move from being your father's property and become your husband's property. Although many "want" to do that, what Natural Spirituality teaches is that you need to possess is a skill set and be able to contribute to your community. In exchange for this contribution you will recieve aid, regardless of your sex. Natural Spirituality, as a religion, is responsible for the education, passing that know how to know how to develop skillsets, on to each individual member of it's community, whether they be women or men.

  • Natural Spirituality defines a woman as an adult female human and a man as an adult male human. An adult is a fully grown, mature organism, that is capable of being self-sufficient and self-correcting. Contrary to popular belief having a vagina doesn’t make you a woman. Having a penis doesn’t make you a man. Any animal can physically develop, attract a mate, have sex and bear young. Just because you can do this doesn’t mean you are an adult. What makes a human female a woman or a human male a man, is what he or she knows of herself. Until you come to know of yourself, for yourself, all you have is what you inherited. All you know of yourself is what people told you and what you wished for. The meaning of what it means to be a man or a woman and the meaning of sex is whatever someone told you it meant. What you believe now is not the way it is, that is just what you’ve come to believe. Believing something does not make it true. You are not an adult because of how people think of you or how they behave toward you. You won’t become an adult by mirroring and matching role models. You don’t become a man by buying into the stories you tell yourself or a woman by believing the lies about yourself that you want to hear. No one can make you an adult. Evolving into an adult is something you have to learn how to do and then you have to allow yourself to experience it. No scripture or rules can do that for you. What you need to know is “how” to do that for yourself. This is what Natural Spirituality offers you.

  • Becoming an adult takes a very personal journey of exploration and discovery. It is not a journey into the world. It is a journey within yourself. It need not happen only in the twilight of your life when you are all spent. The journey can happen whether you are 18 or 81. Of course the younger you are when you come into your own, the more opportunities you have and the longer you have to enjoy it. Natural Spirituality is about "how". Natural Spirituality teaches that the purpose of life (male or female) is to evolve in the field of time. This means to learn, grow and mature in your own authentic self. To do that you need an education that instructs you in how to develop the skill, knowledge and experience that makes you self-sufficient and self correcting. When you have this kind of education you don’t have to just wish you were different. You don't have to pretend. You don't need a role. You can actually make your life better because you know “how”. You can do it. We can help.

The female Que is different from the females in other religions. Not because of what she believes but because of what she knows. Her life doesn't revolve in the perpetual pursuit of a man. She shares her life with whom she chooses and however she sees fit. She doesn’t “need” a man to be complete. She is not wanting of the charity of others therefore she is not “looking for daddy”. She need not be subservient or manipulate others to secure what she wants. She can just go get it. Her core value is that she earns what she has. She can do this because she knows how. Her religion gives her the education she needs. Her work ethic gives her the skills she needs. Her courage gives her the opportunity. Unlike most she is capable of creating her own independent life. This is what it means to be a Que Female.
The female Que is working to build her own successful experience of life. She can do that not because of a story people tell her or something she believes that she read in a mazaine or heard on a talk show. She can do that because of her unique education. An education that she earned by her own efforts. The difference that makes the difference in the female Que is that what she got from her religion was not a role. Life is not a role-playing game. What she learnt was how to do as she intends.
